-MASHOBRA

||Photo Gallery||

A place of unique beauty is the oak and pine retreat of Mashobra, 9.6km from gaiety at an altitude of 2,149 metres (7,700 ft.), it is unbeatable for an ideal interlude beneath oak and pine. To dream the night away and enjoy the sylvan surroundings, is the equally beautiful rest house of Craignano and the Circuit House of Fair Lawns. On the top of the hill, for the naturalists, it is considered to be among the most beautiful rest houses in Shimla Hills.

Just 3km from Mashobra, Craignano is at an height of 2,279 metres (7,800 ft.). A winding path leads through the forest of pines up a gentle incline to the breath taking beautiful gardens filled with an abundance of flowers, amidst clumps of trees, in the spacious lawns, are stone benches and lovely secluded picnic spots. The area adjoining to Mashobra is famous for apples orchards.

Commanding splendid views, Mashobra is ringed by the peaks of the Western Himalayas. On a clear day, the mountains of the Pir Panjal range in the state of Jammu and Kashmir can be seen stretching all the way across to Nanda Devi in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand from a few places in and around Mashobra.

Mashobra has a temperate climate with four distinct seasons. In the summer months of April to June, wild flowers fill the meadows, and the air is cool, fresh and pine-scented and it can rain off and on. The rainy season from July to August has an appeal of its own with misty mountains and glorious sunsets. September to November is pleasant and bracing, while winter is crisp and invigorating with snow and bright, sunny weather.

The Camp NatureTrails is located at Sivpur (2 KM by a dirt track from Mahobra), close to the famous Sipur Temple where the annual Sipi Fair is held in May. Thickly forested and removed from the heavily touristy Shimla region, the camp provides a soft adventure avenue while staying close to nature
